Pros: Hatchback, orange.
Cons: Prius
Also, it’s my birthday, so that’s neat.

I daily drive a car that’s older than me and think it’s reliable.
I think Porsches are dumb.
I also think certain crossovers are good.
My takes are objectively bad.

I like it when my car breaks down because suffering is essential to the human experience.

Happy birthday! I had a Mk 4 and loved it.

The color is good. A manual orange Yaris would be nice, but is not at thing.
Happy birthday!

I would rock that if I were mostly confined to a city.
Pros: efficient in city traffic, small enough, still a hatchback. Reliable, in that it will work even if you don’t drive it much at all. Easy to find when you forget where you parked it last month (because ORANGE)
Cons: I am mostly confined to a city and don’t have a Mini.

It does, but I actually kind of dislike it

I’m fairly certain that a ridiculously colored Prius C will be my Dad Car when the time comes and I need something that’s not a dumpster fire. I intend to keep said dumpster fire (KBB trade in value: $294) until it becomes brown dust, though, so it will keep me sane.

Lol, that’s a strangely specific value for being so low.
A bright color Prius C wouldn’t be a terrible choice. I’m still rocking the E46 wagon but our Family Truckster is a proper Volvo wagon that isn’t 10 years older than the kids.
Also, happy birthday!!

I’ve tried to explain this to my wife. The oil/gas smells, the windows that don’t seal right so it’s louder with the top up than down , the way you have to blip the throttle so it doesn idle at 4,000rpm, the heavy clutch pedal, the way you have to put it in second and then SLAM it into first to get it to cooperate. These are all things that just add to the experience of driving an old car. Because her pleasant easy to drive car is boring

Also I like the C it was a contender for my wife’s new car but after test drivin a Fiesta we decided we needed something bigger for a family hauler and bought the Fit instead. No regrets

1996 Golf GL, 2.0 5MT, options include power steering and air conditioning. I went through again and hit alloy wheels instead of steelies, and it went up $10!

Ha, that post reminded me of seeing one a few days ago and thinking “hm, I kind of like that.”
I really like the garish color. Best part.

Love the gas smell. Running rich and having an exhaust leak are good things. My windows actually seal right- I don’t have a Cabrio, just the interior of one. I do have to feather the throttle to stop it from choking itself. My transmission was redone by the previous owners (new bushings, linkage) so I don’t really have to slam it around. If I try to shift above ~5000, it’s super tight. Can’t get into 1st if I’m moving at all, which is why I’m glad the clutch’s friction zone is a mile long.

My wife was more interested in Summer Rain Metalic. Less bold but still a fun color. It’s got a lot of flop in it so it changes in thelight. These are all the same color.

The current c rop of color options for the C- sadly, this is more diverse than most manufacturers.
I ran across this review from C&D of the Prius C- don’t they know that the worse a car is, the better it is?

The Prius C is the official car o f people who hate cars, but need to have one anyway, and treat it accordingly.
When was the last time you saw a Prius C out in the wild that wasn’t dented or with its bumper hanging off or broken in some other way?
(This is a t rick question. You haven’t. They don't exist.)

I see nothing wrong with these.
I mean, if you have the ability to plug in a full-electric, an off-lease Nissan Leaf is going for about $10,000. Granted, Leafs are not as cool as an orange Prius, but...

My BIL & SIL have one, and my God is it one of the worst cars I’ve ever driven. Even with the seat all the way down, I felt like I was in a clown car (I’m 5'11"). Not only that, but the rearview mirror fell off after less than 25k miles!
Also, if you want to feel like you’re playing a Pole Position or Super Off Road arcade game, you’ll love the C’s steering feel. There is none to be found anywhere.

If you value your life, run as far away as possible. We also test drove one when my wife needed a new car. It’s so hilariously underpowered, e ven the salesman felt uncomfortable merging in it!

In the story series I’ve been writing, the main character has one of these in Summer Rain Metallic. They’re such cute, happy cars, especially in the bright colors like that. The black and white interiors are cool, too.

FWIW, everyone I know that was into these stopped being into them after a test drive.
